Where It All Began
Tarun Patel opened Num Num's Bakery on Wigram Street, Harris Park in 2019 with one rule: every cake we sell will be 100% eggless. Not some cakes. Not most cakes. Every single one, every single time.
The motivation was personal. Vegetarian and Jain families in Sydney had long faced the same frustration: they could not walk into most bakeries and order a celebration cake without worrying about what was inside. Birthdays passed with shop-bought biscuits or no cake at all. Tarun wanted to change that. Not as a niche product, but as the default. Everything at Num Num's is eggless. You never have to ask.
Harris Park is home to one of Sydney's largest South Asian communities. For the families who live here, vegetarian and Jain-friendly food is not a special request. It is just how people eat. Num Num's was built with that in mind from the start, and the community responded. Within the first year, custom cakes had become the bakery's signature, with orders for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, and religious celebrations arriving via WhatsApp every day.
In December 2024, we opened our second store at Riverstone Shopping Centre, bringing the same cakes to Sydney's northwest. Harris Park will always be home, but Num Num's now belongs to a larger part of Sydney.
